1. Start Windows Explorer by right-clicking the Windows Start button, and then clicking Explore. 2. Navigate to a folder that contains one of the files that has lost its association 3. Right-click one of the files, and then click Open With on the shortcut menu. The Open With dialog box appears. 4. Under Choose the program you want to use, click the appropriate program If the appropriate program is not listed, click Other, and then locate the program. 5. After you have selected the program, select the Always use this program to open these files check box. 6. Click OK to open the file and save the file association.

geekwuffie stopped by yesterday and patched up her registry so that Windows once again knows what kind of file a .LNK is.
