i made a committment a few years back not to even get a license until there were fully-enviro-vehicles being produced at an affordable price. this isn't it, but it's a step in the right direction at least.
in related news, i followed a link out of a gmail rss feed and ended up at an about.com article on hybrids: "But just how good are the new hybrids, and will buying one actually save you money?"
i think they're missing the point (though admittedly the article was about more than just cost efficiency).
it's a step-- there's also catalytic converters for diesel cars (not mandated, but they exist) so you can burn super clean biodiesel and grow it yourself. which is a baby step, and i guess if you had a carbon scrubber attached, then you would be really clean running...
