i actually thought devil's rejects was kinda lack-luster compared to 'corpses' the thing that bugged me was i thought the characters had changed too much for the second one. there was really none of the disturbing "playfulness" which i was drawn to. i dont know if that makes sense.
I do agree though -- RZ's Halloween was lame. #1 rule for slasher movies: Ambiguity; it's really the only way to avoid MAJOR cheese. There's a reason why slasher flicks with too much story are always lame as hell haha.
Ya know, I liked 'Corpses' until maybe 3/4 of the way through. Then I just got annoyed and the last part of it I really hated. I liked 'Devil's' a lot mainly because of the exploitation and 1970's vibe. I loved how it was shot, and yeah the characters were so different than 'corpses'.
