Ha I read about that.

I wish I could have been more supportive of his decision

I think she's saying she WASN'T supportive of the decision but wishes she could understand his motives more.

I believe she mentions in the interview that he had been talking about suicide for quite some time now - including discussions of how his body should be handled and all that.

I'm not sure a shrink would have helped. I think he was only crazy insofar as the multitude of drugs that he used allowed him to be. It also seems that he didn't mind too much that he was dying. He mentioned that he was amazed he grew to be as old as he did already.

the guy was a hero to all of us

Journalists and druggies aside, speak for yourself ;) I think he is canonized far more than he deserves. That's just my opinion, though.

I didn't mean everyone that reads my journal, i sort of meant all of the people that i had close personal relationships with, he was pretty important or the people i felt comfortable with when i was younger, i guess that whole "scene". i can rember getting a copy of F & L at the age of 16 from my boyfriend at the time and I immediatly was impressed by the artwork in the book (Ralph Steadman). He was just the type of author who had it all together. F & L on the campaign trail is for sure a milestone in political criticism, to say the least. I'm not saying he was a hero by the way he lived his life, I am saying it in what he brought to the world artistically, which is all we should expect from a person in such a field. He was a guy that went above and beyond. But anyway, I guess i need to gear my entries toward an audience.
