So I decided to check into a hotel for a writing weekend instead of traveling the six hours to and from the cabin. We got a deal, it would cost less than gas for the trip

It's so easy to get distracted, isn't it? I don't know how many times I've been writing and had my daughter call from the school office wondering why I haven't picked her up yet.
Le sigh, yes...they don't come around very often...but it could have been worse - I could have come away as frustrated and discouraged with writing as before, but as it is I feel like I can keep on keeping on, for now anyway.
You made me cringe, laugh, and huzzah all in one post! Yay! I'm glad it wasn't a total wash, and I'm really happy you're writing again. And, um, I don't wanna stay at that place. And I'm the one who stays in $30/night NYC hostels where the community bathroom door doesn't latch...

If you ever need to write a scene set in a seedy hotel, you won't need to do any research! You'll write it so fast your characters will get whiplash! I love that special touch of the pot coming through the vent! At least you had the good sense to leave the next morning. I'd probably have stayed both nights and then several days later thought...why didn't I check out?
It's lovely to hear you're back at the keyboard. May your words flow like water onto the page!!!
Writing can be frustrating. I finally figured out where I was going wrong on both stories I've been working on after nearly a month of writing in the wrong directions and then coming to a full stop. My characters haven't been happy with me, but I have got some sewing done...miracles never cease! Saturday I finally sat down and started reworking my half finished book...it felt really good!!!
Yeppers. Temporarily, at least. We'll be going back for three months in mid-October. Mixed feelings on that. I get a lot of writing done over there, but I like being home!

Great post. I thought I was the only one who stayed in my PJ's until the UPS man came. :)
One time I ran down the road in my pj's because my dog took off.. It was 20 degrees outside.
I put things on to cook, and then start writing and forget about the pan of meat braising until it is charcoal.
