What a wonderful, beautiful character study.
I didn't quite follow Buffy's reasoning here: "He mocks her ability to hurt him because she can’t hurt him." How come she can't?
Everything else, I love. The last sentence ties it together so elegantly! (Also, ow.)

She can't hurt him physically to match the hurt he feels emotionally - that's why she says 'she can't hurt him - only his love can do that'. Spike's love for Buffy is a force Buffy can't control.
