‘Remember how I accidentally caught your hand on fire and you told me you loved me?’
‘Remember how I sacrificed myself to save the whole world, all heroic and brave even with my insides boiling and knowing I’ll never see you again?’
‘Remember how we were close but then I died?’
‘Yeah? Well, nevermind. Forget that. Now I’m a ghost trapped in a lawfirm run by your ex. Really tops that ending, doesn’t it?’
So when he sees her again, when she stares at him baffled and unbelieving and hopeful (or maybe he’s just hoping for hopeful), he says the only thing that comes to his incorporeal mind. “Boo.”
