missing books = sadness

i recently started re-reading the farseer trilogy, from lack of anything else inspiring on my bookshelves. they're really good.

however i discovered that the third book is missing. and i somehow have two copies of the first book in the second series. i suspect that what has happened is that mandellebrotte and i accidentally swapped - she probably has two copies ( Read more... )

haroun and the sea of stories is brilliant! if you can't find it tell me, and I will send you a new copy as I think everyone should have a copy of that book. the dragonbone chair was good but william's later weirdness spoils it for me now, but anything missing of gaiman should be mourned. We bought 1602 by NG a while back and I was yet again amazed at how he took a concept I thought could be torturous and weird and turned it into something awesome.

it is brilliant. i am almost positive that eli has it, and i know where he lives so i'm not too worried about that one.

but yes, smoke and mirrors makes me sad. i love that book. i also lost my original copy of american gods and had to buy it again, but it's a different edition and one important scene is totally different. so it doesn't feel like the old friend i had, you know?

haven't read 1602. will keep an eye out for it. meanwhile i am immersing myself in umberto eco and italo calvino.
