Charles found the note a few hours after it had been delivered. Scanning the scrawl quickly, Xavier crumpled it into his hands, boiling mad. Drastic times called for drastic measures, he rationalized as he communicated telepathically with Logan:
"No. Flat out no. You have a responsibility to the school and to the children and you choose to leave during our most drastic hour?"
Logan was walking down one of the burned out hallways when he suddenly heard the voice of the Professor within his mind. A scowl overtook his features as he thought back through the telepathic link.
And what about your teachers? You don't think that we need a rest for ourselves every now and then?
Logan heaved a sigh. We're people too, Chuck, and some of us deserve some time away from always seeing wreckage and destruction. I definitely know of another teacher that needs the break more than me.
Eyes narrowed, even though there was no one before him. We didn't choose to have the world on our shoulders, Chuck. That was you. But, hey, I won't argue with you in my head like this.

Xavier touched his forhead wearily, closing his eyes as the tips of digits smoothed out a wrinkle.
It's our duty to provide a secure environment for them. And I will not rest until I can promise that again.
