Two degrees for the price of one?

So here's a question for all of you graduate school people. Would it be a good idea for me to get a second master's degree in music theory while working on my DMA? The only difference in coursework between the theory minor I'm doing now and the full-blown degree is 6 credits for a thesis. All of the other courses I have taken/will take as part of

I'm not in the grad program, but it seems if you can complete all the work/theses... do it.

thesis = 2nd master's
2 master's + DMA = greater flexibility
greater flexibility = employability

2. Dissertation writing = sucks major ass

3. Dissertation writing + Thesis writing = sucks double-major ass.

You're already saying you have too much on your plate and don't know how you're going to handle it all. Why add more grief. I think it would be a great idea, and if you're willing to spend more time here to do it, then I say go ahead. I just know how much shit Al went through writing his thesis, and I know how much shit I'm going through writing a dissertation. They're already letting you double up on a lot of shit. There's no way they would let one document count for both degrees. I'm all about being versatile. Hell, I'm taking clarinet and oboe lessons at the same fucking time. But I'm not pursuing a second Masters in Multiple Woodwinds. I'm also listing a secondary emphasis in music history, but there's no way in hell I'd write a history thesis on top of all this shit just to get a second degree that I may or may not use. I don't know man.

I agree. Will getting a theory degree make you a worse saxophone player/teacher because of the time you ahve to spend on it? That's the question. If you want to teach theory go for it...but don't do it just for kicks
