lol i made some really derogatory comment about the arctic monkeys the other day, because i think they're touring here in january, and someone was all "i would go to the big day out for them, because they've gotten better at something i can't remember" and i was like "i would go if they'd gotten better at not writing shit songs that all sound the same" and i was all "THE GOOD OLD DAYS WHEN WE DIDN'T KNOW WHO PETE WENTZ WAS ;____;", the end.

(also, i refound the 2004 nme new bands mix cd on my hard drive the other day, and IS STILL AMAZING, OKAY. this was also entertaining for me, i forgot to mention!)

ahahaha the good old days. We were bandom before bandom was bandom ok. No, but I quite like Last Shadow Puppets if only because Miles'n'Alex are quite lil lovebirds. I mean what.

Ohhh 2004. Back when Bloc Party were indie, The Strokes still made music, and The Bravery were just a bunch hedonistic brats. Sigh. I miss those days. I bet that mixcd is amazing. And thank you! nostalgia ftw.

hahaha kate and i were talking about damnyouwentz the other day, because i was trying to rec her some recent fic (she hides it from her super indie boyfriend, so she's kind of behind), and all i could find that was good was panic fic, and she was all "is there anything else?" and i was all "NO ONE IS WRITING FIC FOR OTHER BANDS, IDK", which then led to how weirdly elitist bandom used to be, and how now it's pretty much everyone from the libertines fandom and then some? WEIRD.

2004 was the optimum year of my youth, tbh! dude, i was so cool then, i think university has made me less of a hipster, how depressing is that. uni is when you're supposed to be all cool and "finding yourself", and hey, apparently "myself" is a bit of an antisocial hermit who likes bad emo bands and noisecore, who'd have thought.
