Hello there, just passing by after I saw LJ link this on facebook.

I'm pretty sure Anne Hathaway is a fan of Audrey Hepburn. IIRC, she mentions it in the intro for this deleted scene from the Princess Diaries 2 (intro not actually included, but there's a fun bit at about the 1:55 mark).

OH.MY.GOSH.

That is amazing! I haven't watched Princess Diaries 2 in a LONG time and I don't think I've ever seen the deleted scenes, so this made my jaw drop!

Thank you so much for sharing this. The Breakfast At Tiffany's connections run DEEP. :)

Really interesting read! This is probably completely unrelated, but Selina's roommate in the comics was named Holly, wasn't she? Do you know if the creator of Holly (Frank Miller?) may have intentionally picked this name as a nod to Holly Golightly?

I am guessing yes since she is known as Holly 'Go-Nightly' Robinson

And to the OP-This was a really interesting post. Now I'm off to read some of the other entries on this journal :)

I knew about Holly Robinson (who, interestingly, enough at one point takes over AS Catwoman), but had no idea about the "Go-Nightly" nickname for her. WOW.

Thanks for pointing that out!

P.S. The spotlight and linking on LJ's Facebook and Twitter is insane to me. I just kind of write these things for myself because I like to write. So glad people found it interesting to read as I did when I was researching and writing it.

P.P.S. If you like nerdy things, hope you enjoy my posts. Starting a post to tackle Hulk vs. Batman soon.

I looooove nerdy things! Hope you don't mind but I added you as a friend so I can read more of the geeky goodness!

And yes, the spotlight would be kind of nutty. This is the first time I've seen an individual journal highlighted. Weirdness!

The Go-Nightly nickname is kind of crazy. Granted, I haven't read the comics in which that was used, but I did know that Holly took over as Catwoman for awhile so I think it's safe to say that DC definitely has Catwoman and Audrey connected in many ways!

Anne's always reminded me of a cross between Audrey and Liza Minnelli.

Anyway, interesting post.

She really has that kind of look, doesn't she?

Thanks for reading!

You wrote a very interesting article. While I'm no fan of Ann Hathaway, I love Audrey Hepburn. I feel that Ann may duplicate her to a certain extent, she'll never replace her.

I'm a fan of both so it's fun to see the connections between them.

I don't know that Anne will duplicate her (because, really, who could?), but it's nice to know that there's quality in acting and film like there was when Hepburn was around.

I had simply been assuming that Anne Hathaway's personal appearance plus the current resurgence of "mod" style was responsible for the Hepburnesque qualities but now I'll have to watch with a more critical eye, I think.

Initially, I didn't think anything more than "Oh, cool...she looks like Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany's". Finding all of these connections has made the Selina in The Dark Knight Rises even more interesting to me (and I was already hyped for her interpretation).

I'm interested in seeing if there is anything more to it in the movie (seeing as how it's more than two and a half hours long and the trailers/TV spots have only scratched the surface for us).

Thanks for reading and leaving a comment!
