Why were there so many people?

It vaguely annoyed Saw, who mostly unaware that she was no longer in her own world. There wasn't much of a difference in the change of setting, anyways.

Besides the people. Should she kill them? There were a lot to kill. She could easily tear through all of them with her claws, or dismember them with her sword, or simply stab them. So many possibilities. Too many people.

Something wasn't right.

Saw crushed her phone and headset in one fist without a second thought. Worthless junk. The arrival message had been disregarded as well. She stood up, hefting her sword over her shoulder, and silently observed the other newcomers.

While the surroundings gave her the heebie jeebies, this woman gave her chills. She had to admit, this woman's costume appeared flawless, and Velma remembers her fair share, both from Mystery Inc. cases and conventions.

Still, the costume theory didn't calm her nerves, or settle her stomach.

No. She wasn't Shaggy or Scooby, nor did she believe in the supernatural.

"H-Hello," she stammered out, keeping her distance from the horned woman. Just in case.

This was new. Saw had become so accustomed to communicating through violence that she simply stared at Velma for a brief moment, quickly determining that she was human and therefore not worth slaughtering.

...

Or maybe...

Nah. Totally not worth it.

Her cold stare remained focused on Velma, Saw's mind still working out why there was even a human here in the first place. As it finally began to dawn upon her, her eyes narrowed and her grip on the sword shifted ever so slightly.

Nope. Totally not worth slaughtering. She's not very meaty and probably not as tasty either. Nevermind that she eats healthy.

The lack of a verbal response pushed her nerves further, but the sword shift, which Velma noticed, caused her to inhale so quickly that she squeaked. Not only that, but in her rush to step backwards and add to her distance, her heel caught on the rocks and she lost her balance.

Instead of trying to cushion her fall, her hands went to hold her glasses firmly in place. She couldn't have that happening too.

Oh. A nervous one.

Not exactly surprising.

Rather than leaving the human to sit there among the rocks, Saw approached. What Velma had said earlier about the need to get beyond the walls intrigued her. Might as well find out more about the current situation.

"Explain."

Her rear aches from the rough landing, but she's not about to complain or tend to it with this one approaching. She braces for the sword to come swinging and prepares to try and roll out of the way. Or something helpful.

Instead, she's given something rather doable, even if she is still terrified.

"Well it just doesn't look to safe out here, and those walls seem to be set up to keep something out and protect something inside. I... I want to be protected tonight."

And that earns a scoff. Why did she even bother asking?

"It may be just as dangerous beyond the walls. Who knows?" Casually, she runs her claws down the edge of her sword, creating an unpleasant metal screech. She'd almost forgotten how fun it was to intimidate others.

"Possibly, but I'm willing to risk it." She doesn't want to say it, but Velma would feel safer if this woman stayed out here for the night.

The noise isn't as intimidating as it is utterly horrible, and she immediately clamps her palms down over her ears, wincing. Worse than nails down a chalkboard.

She doesn't let her gaze fall from the sword, though.

Saw notices where Velma's gaze is directed. Oh.

In a brief flash of metal and rocks, the sword is impaled in the ground inches away from Velma's feet.

"Good luck with that."

If she could jump back again, she would, but since Velma remained on her rear end, a wince and a yelp were her reactions. Cautiously, she opened one eye at a time to peer at just how close the sword landed. Yep, the poor girl shook like a leaf.

"Th-th-thanks."

Ever polite.

"You're welcome."

And with that pleasant remark, Saw removes her sword and begins to walk away. No use wasting any more time with this one.

Once she's sure that Saw is gone and not returning, Velma pulls herself from the shore and makes haste to the gates.
