(o44) let's talk about tv shows.

I decided that, once I manage to get my paws on more free time, I should use it judiciously. Which means, of course, on screentime!

This is a rec post.

Kindly step forward and name 1-5 shows that I ABSOLUTELY need to watch. State a reason or two; their main theme; perhaps a lead character or ship, or an actor/actress who's doing marvelously within. ( Read more... )

Hmm...I do that too, lol, there're amazing TV shows out there that I've not discovered yet and a lot of shows I discovered rather late, as well!:S

Coming to mind:
1. Once Upon a Time; fairytales take a dark turn, it's an innovative, interesting show and the plot twists...well, you never know what the next episode will bring.
2. Legend of the Seeker: based on Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series, an epic quest to save the world from an evil wizard, but it's not quite that simple!;)
3.Doctor Who-if you haven't seen it already, not too sure there!:)

I only know really old stuff when it comes to TV shows, but hmmm ...

1. Babylon 5. Because it's the first show that had been planned from the beginning to the end from the first moment on (which ended up being some troubled when season five was first cancelled and then returned, but that's another story). Because it has so, so, so many wonderful characters. Because it's diverse. Because the alien is really alien.
2. Sherlock. Because it's short. And fun. And because they managed something that seemed impossible to me: to transfer Sherlock Holmes and John Watson into today's world, but still keep them Holmes and Watson while the world changed.

1. Generation Kill: There's a really great intro post here and it's probably the least "likable" of the HBO war trinity, but it's my favourite. This man is in it, as is this dude. I've picspammed two of the episodes here and here. I really love this show, okay. A lot.
2. Band of Brothers: My second favourite of the HBO war trinity. It's set in WW2, versus 2003 like Generation Kill & follows Easy Company. And it's amazing. Even the opening credits are amazing (see here). It has an amazing cast and. Just. IinfinbiADInfiNMDMsMDN. I love it. It's heart breaking but uplifting at the same time. It made me cry and it made me laugh and there's no way you can't fall in love with half the characters because they are SO real.
3. The Pacific: Least favourite of the trinity, but only because I love the other two more. It's just as amazing. Like BoB, even the opening credits are amazing. Another amazing cast. Another bunch of characters that are so fucking real. It's. Just. Ainfsngi ( ... )
