the hall smells of pizza; it's a good thing. life has taught me that there's a symbol in every pizza, sometimes.

i just had this random but viciously correct thought: I SHOULD WATCH/READ/LISTEN TO things i WANT TO. like, you see, i often find myself procrastinating (badly!) and simply scrolling up and down a random list of anime, shows, films, ( Read more... )

me: it's all about me

*waves frantically*

hiii. i missed you! any news on the business front? throw an email at me anytime you can :)

aaand about gina. that woman is born the same day with me, as far as i remember, and that's a huuuge honour for yours truly. i've only seen her in notting hill and then in forsyte saga, but i do think she's glorious. anything else with her within, i'll be happy to know of.

re: karl may, you know we share a love for his works, so there's no need for recs :) i have been planning to start reading his books in german, but they're bloody difficult to find here. so far i only own one >.>

re: sherlock holmes, i have to admit i'd be in great need of a cinematographic/show rec. i've read pretty much the entire collection of novels/short stories, but on the video side i'm quite poor.

YOU'RE COMING HERE??? oh yaaayyy! this would be glorious!!!

*does a thrilled dance* really now. really. do let me know in advance, alright, so you can have a proper tour guide and everything :D

greatest luck with finishing the thesis - i know how difficult it can get when it's nearing its end. huh. i'm sure it'll come across brilliantly though. aaand congratulations! i wish i could work with film producers and such; the translation material i'm currently getting is quite ridic. like, energy; chemistry; user's guides. you know the lot. and the money? better not mention it. the only agency that actually owed me a more substantial amount became bankrupt >.>

thank you for taking the time to mention all the dvds and such! i'll surely try to check out at the british council and see which ones they have. and danke sehr for the may texts :D it's brilliant, i had no idea that the resource existed! now i only need to find the films as well.

Yeah I've been there.. doing, watching, reading things while not totally loving it. It's hard at first but just do the things you reallyreally love.

As for recommendations, IDK, don't know what you've read and watched and all. I'd say do some research :D I'm always searching and I've found awesome things.

Right now I'm watching Firefly- never saw it before. Good show, sucks that it was cancelled.

Reading- I just finished the Betsy/Tacy series- these are great cozy reads. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betsy-Tacy

I'm picking up Naamah's Blessing at the library tomorrow! *does happy dance*

i actually started to watch firefly ages ago, but i somehow dropped it after two episodes; idk exactly WHY. the show was definitely good and it had a brilliant cast.

betsy/tacy, noted. sounds like fun. might be a bit difficult to find though.

as for naamah *sigh*. i have the first two trilogies by the grace of two lj friends who were so kind not only to make a present of them, but also to carry them for me from across the ocean. there's no sign of possibly finding kiss anytime soon.

I tend to give movies 5-30 minutes to gain my interest, and books 50-100 pages (given a 200-300+ page book). I have little time to plod through.

I find this site great for finding out about music: http://www.allmusic.com/. Just type in a band and look for moods or recommendations of similar bands.

I've really gotten into film noir lately, but I know that many people can have a hard time getting into older movies. I think one I can recommend is Ace in the Hole. It's amazing how cynical it is, and the message is timely.
