[Watchman Review; Part IV: A "Civilains Reaction" and "Thoughts Upon a Second Viewing"]

Mar 09, 2009 01:12

So I took my mother to see Watchmen this afternoon. She knew nothing about the film -- except that I squeed like a bitch everytime a preview came on TV. I totally pulled a Rorschcah on her. We walked into the theater, and she said, "So are you going to tell me about the plot?" And I said, "No." I told her I wanted her to go in blind and react ( Read more... )

I freaking hate Dan/Ror shippers. There is a metric fuckton of them, seeming to be everywhere. It just want them to leave the poor Asexual man of awesome alone. It's good to know that the music gets better, because during my first viewing, it completely made me cringe and snicker. It's funny, I love book!Dan and Laurie, but movie Dan and Laurie are totally tainted by that craptastic love scene on Archie.

I agree with you about JEH. It's sad that he won't get love for such an amazing role. I was blown away by his performance, especially at the end.

Also, I <3 you for finding the Wayne thing. It brought me much joy and lulzing last night. One of my favorite Easter Eggs was the fact that Eddie had a Sally lighter.

Totally got here randomly. You commented on one of my stories and...I went all "detective". ;)

THAT IS HOLLIS BEATING THE CRAP OUT OF JOE CHILL AND SAVING THE WAYNES.

*lol* You think? Considering he has Batman posters behind him, I'm not sure that can be... unless of course that's why they put the posters there in the first place?

One of my fav "eggs" was the 1984 Apple ad when Adrian was watching all his screens. It's to his right. I totally pointed to the screen, squeed (I'm a Mac user..!) and told my friend what I'd seen. I told *everyone* afterward! LOL!

Anyhoo...I just meant to say I loved your review. :) I saw the movie on Friday, on IMAX and loved it - and I've been aching to go back again...of course, now this makes me want to go back even more. :) And you made me giggle along the way with your comments, too. Love that! :D

We've been speculating about it over as watchdom. I'm 95% sure it is the Waynes. I suggested that this could've been a photo shoot for some magazine where they're amazing Nite Owl saving the Waynes. Or, maybe he really did save the Waynes and Bruce never grows up to be Batman.

Someone needs to write that. I want to see that unfold. I think it would be fascinating to see Bruce in the Watchmen universe.

You should do it. I will beta and poke you, if you want. I just don't trust myself to do it; I'll never finish it, and I'll screw it up.

And Bruce Wayne could definitely fit into the world of Watchmen. Would he have been inspired by Nite Owl, who saved his parents, and insisted on taking over after Hollis retires? If so, how would that affect Dan? Or did Bruce grow up as a "proper" kid and became a doctor like his father? Does he still own/run Wayne Enterprises? Do they do business with Veidt International? How does it work?

And if Bruce Wayne isn't Batman in the comics, then who is Batman?

Oh, man, now I'm jonzed and excited. *goes to see if you have an IM name*
