There's a lot more to it than that, but I found this part particularly interesting because I've always wondered if my decision to not have kids impacted my over all happiness. Looks like it does!

I was being a bit flippant with my comment. While it's true that I have made the decision not to have kids, that decision was based on more than my happiness. There are also genetic things I don't want to risk passing on to another generation.
I can see how having kids would add to your overall stress level. By stress, I don't mean "distress". I just mean things that you have to balance and think about.
For example, you have to make sure they bathe, eat, go to bed, get up on time, and go to good schools. It's a level of responsibilty that you take on that does add some stress. In the end, having these additional stresses is well worth the results for some.
