Odd how people can get used to floating electric orbs that can kill us in an instant hovering around us.

Not as odd as, oh, saaay, electric nodes attached to your skull that send lethal shock waves into your cranium and right on down through your spine to the tips of your toes. All at the negligent touch of a button.

Floating orbs? Easy peasy.

That probably sounds more threatening if I knew what nodes were and how a button causes that.

Never heard of experimental electroshock 'therapy'? That's alright. You're not being deprived of anything. Point being it's much more invasive than having these...nebulous...sentries--whatever they are--skulking around. I haven't seen them kill more than one little ol' nobody, have you?

No. But I imagine it's not pleasant.

You haven't seen what they can do. That doesn't mean others haven't.

Odd, yes. I'm not one of those people, though. Makes my skin crawl every time I go outside.

A lot of crawling or you don't go outside much?

...Both? I only go out when I have to. Which is more often than I'd like to.

The recluse route is a bit hard to get here. Too boring staying inside.

It's a great testament to the human spirit?

They still make me nervous.

I guess so.

You're new?

Somewhat. I don't think I'll ever get used to them, though.

I'm Ned.

At least you'll always keep an eye on them, I guess.

Mai.
