Misfortune seemed his lot
We got into a drifted bank
And then we got upsotI'm getting pretty tired of my car's poor snow handling abilities... and a little worried that it's me and not the car. I've always been excellent driver in the snow. Perhaps it's just the tires, perhaps it's the car, perhaps it's the driver... in any case, I'm getting ( Read more... )

Funny you mention this. I'm in the EXACT same boat. Even though I grew up in Buffalo, I didnt actually start driving in snow in Cleveland till 2001...and I didnt think much of it at the time. Now, I have to commute to work, through a valley, and a long highway. And I hate every minute of it. I keep thinking I'm gonna spin out on the highway and end up with a truck running into me. And everyday grows worse as I get more and more nervous.
I'm thinking perhaps this years weather is just a little more insane then normal. Maybe next year we will be ok.
Cant wait till spring.

Ugh... I really hate being nervous about driving... I haven't felt like this since I was a "kid"... I grew up driving in snow... in-fact, I remember vividly that the very first time I ever drove a car by myself (to a friend's house 2 miles down the road), we had a small snowstorm (like 3-4 inches) and I drove home in it. I learned quick to be careful and not be afraid... and my parents were always "you've gotta drive in it, so you might as well get the practice" even after having a few snow-related accidents during my "learning period". I really feel weird right now about how I feel so nervous to get in my car. UGH!

Thanks for the understanding / not-being-alone-in-this support... We'll make it to spring...
Safe driving... *hugs*

I'm thinking it's the car...you've been having so many problems this year, bad weather or not. Time to think about a shiny, new one! New car smell, new transmission, new wheels, new color, new sound system...ah, the list goes on :) *hugs*

Get a Volvo!!!!! Safety, luxury, reliability.... Martin's drives awesome in the snow, our next car will be a XC70 or XC90 with 4WD. I also love my Tundra, it flys through the snow and it's nice and heavy so I feel really safe in it too. Just promise you will take me to go shopping and negotiate, I love car shopping and negotiations! Hold off a month or two and try and catch a '04 leftover.
