Locked in

Every evening, when I get home from work, I take Colin downstairs in the finished part of the basement to play for a while. We spread some pillows and toys around, roll on the floor, play Wii games (well, mostly that's me) and just generally spend some time together.

I must've said 20 times "Turn the lock, Colin" before I realized he doesn't know the meaning of 50 percent of the words in that sentence.

I knew that whatever I broke to get through the door, I'd have to fix again, preferably before Kristin got home so I didn't have to explain too much. Hinge pins are within my realm of expertise -- lock tumblers, not so much.
