Left Alone
When Lily, waving madly, watched her two brothers board the Hogwarts Express, she was feeling happy for them and excited about the prospect of receiving letters from Albus addressed for her. But as the express disappeared from sight, her arm stilled and she felt the sadness creep up on her, like a cold hand against her skin. Albus hadn’t talked to her or hugged her goodbye. He hadn’t even spared a glance her way.
“Come, Lily,” her father said. “Let’s go home.”
She took his offered hand, hoping Albus would remember her later and send a letter for her first.
