Living in the attic of my girlfriend's childhood home - Finally happy with how things look!

Lanni, 23, living in Rochester, NY.

This is my current living space. My girlfriend and I are living in her childhood bedroom at her mom's house. It's not ideal, but it's allowing us to save enough money to get started on our own.

You may remember me (if you've been here for a few years!) - I used to post a bit when I was in college. I deleted my ( Read more... )

Troy and Abed in the MORNING! YES!

Love your room! I always loved your posts; I think I even saved some pictures as inspiration at some point!

I loved your old posts and I absolutely love this. Your new room is very similar to mine architecturally; I've also got slanted ceilings and can empathize with the lack of wall space. :)

Haha, thanks. It was really annoying at first (especially when I'd hit my head coming up the stairs!) but I've gotten used to it, as I bet you have too!

That pink chair is gorgeous, I'm jealous of your great find!

I'm with the 'less is more' camp -- I got rid of most of my stuff, including all my collections, in the past couple of years, and have downsized to a 223-square foot apartment -- but otherwise I really like your place. It's very playful and the pink chair is made of awesome!

Oh, how I hope I make it there someday! I was diagnosed with OCD about six years ago, and collecting things is still something I'm working on. Someday I WILL be clutter-free! :)

I hear you! That's actually why I downsized. I found all that stuff was taking up room in my brain.

With the exception of some artwork and two boxes of books, all my possessions are now things I use or consume regularly. Everything is aesthetically pleasing -- for example, I adore my turquoise toaster and orange microwave! -- but practical. (Which is why I sold my oh-so cute pink Hello Kitty rice cooker that's in my userpic. I can easily make rice on the stovetop so, by my new way of thinking, the rice cooker became clutter.)

Part of the reason I moved into such a small space is to rein me in from constantly looking for stuff for my home. I simply have no space for more stuff, unless I use the 'one thing in, one thing out' rule. An added bonus is that I save a ton of money, since I rarely go shopping any more.

The best part? It only takes me half an hour to clean the apartment from top to bottom!

Do you have Chamber of Secrets in paperback, or is the picture just weird.

Haha, the picture is weird. The spine of PoA is sticking out and covering the rounded edges of it.
