My kitchen has sauce

Hi, my name is Susanna. I work in a library and like tea and typography (and other things, as you will soon find out!). I just moved from North Seattle to the Capitol Hill area and into a very tiny 100-year-old studio apartment above a Thai restaurant. It's perfect.

Some magic led me to have a three-day weekend this past week, so I unpacked and got right down to business! I'm only sharing my kitchen area this time around, as the rest is still a work-in-progress.

Dang-near every single thing pictured in this post was purchased over the course of several years from Seattle-area thrift stores. I collect a lot of things, but one of my main collections is of solid-colored mid-century dishes, which I have gathered piece by piece, one little saucer at a time!

Below the cupboard are four framed children's phonic flash cards.

Just some salt and pepper shakers wrestling above the refrigerator, no big deal!

My little oven. Those two glass bottles on the left were packaged together like that -- cat head and all -- at a thrift store some years back. I'm always down for random cat heads, though.

I think everything in this picture has something up their respective sleeves. Those shot glasses are known as "roving eye" shot glasses and date from the 1950s. The eye is painted on the inside of the glass, and as you move it around, it looks like it's following you. Just what you want when you're drunk.

Also in the photo is a drink mixer called "Mr. Mixit," made by Ideal Toys, who seems more like a used car salesman that you should probably not accept a drink from.

Sprinkles are more important than any spice!

One last shot of the shelves, where you can see my Jig Saw Jr. -- a real working jigsaw for kids! I guess for the ones you don't like very much.

Edit:

Here's a photo of the "other half" of the kitchen. It's all just against one wall. The top of my fridge is arguably not-so-saucy... But I thought it'd give you a better idea of what the overall kitchen looks like.

If you have any questions or are curious about anything*, please, let me know! I love sharing.

Anyway, thanks for looking, and I'll post the rest of my apartment once it's looking presentable.

*my kitchen, cats, the solar system... Anything!
