Cut executed.

Using scaffolding was a good way to cut down on the "too romantic" risk we were running by choosing a soft color and elements such as the Tord Boontje lamp. I like the way it works in this space and Tess is pleased (she is fond of industrial style things).

Great choices indeed :) was it difficult to get those pipes the right sizes? It'd be the part of the diy i fear the most ;)

Originally we had hoped to buy all the scaffolding material second hand, but resorted to getting some new at a store (Nijhof) where we could order the joints in specific sizes. It was hart to find enough joints. However, the materials remain flexible, so we can reuse them to our hearts content.

Thanks.

We are quite lucky to have the dresser; it offers a sense of history which we really can use in our house. The house, built in the 1970's, is essentially a cement block and thus lacking much soul in and of itself. It's a challenge to give it character without denying the basic style of the house, but slowly but surely we are getting there.

I love the literal "head board", and the shelves. Very calming room :)

Yes, it's a very literal head board. :) I like that too. I like very literal, undisguised things in general. Thanks.

After you said that I scrolled up to see if there were heads painted on it or something

Very soothing and euro. Not my style for my own home, but I'd love to stay for the weekend! (If that makes any sense at all)

It looks cold and sterile...but some people like to sleep and make love in cold and sterile places.. so to each his/her own!

It's definitely a bare bones aesthetic which isn't everyone's cup of tea. Personally, I would not call it sterile because there is a lot of "life" in the materials - the wood, the leather, the metal - but I understand what you mean. So far it seems to be a great place to sleep and make love; the way the light falls into the room when we wake up is very conducive to the latter. ;)
