Happy Friday Dwellers! What do you want to see today?

MOD NOTE: I am planning on getting back to work with silly_narziss on the community guidelines starting next week. It's been an off one for me. I am going to say that I am underwhelmed and a tad irritated that we are still seeing posts using poor quality photography ( Read more... )

I agree. This community is about sauce. It is a meritocracy, not a feel-good-about-yourself-and-your-camera-phone-picture-ocracy.

Tbh my biggest problems are still (a) your dwelling is not going to look saucy, no matter how cute it is, if you haven't cleaned and staged it at least a little, and (b) clutter != sauce.

Design on a Dime: Kitchen Storage Ideas & Kids Toy Storage (to add further, I need Out of the Closet ideas as I live in a 100 year old cottage/farm house with NO built in closets. Thx!)

There are lots of places in LJ where one can post pictures of so-so dwellings taken with crappy cameras, and show shots of every book and clutter spot.
I follow this community because it is not one of those.
People who think that asking for decent photography and an actually saucy home is asking too much should maybe consider joining a different community instead of complaining about this one.

I have to say, I've seen absolutely beautiful quality photos in here that people gush about. But the actual room/decor is horrid or downright plain. I bet if the same pics had been taken with flash, or in worse quality, the sentiments would not be the same.

i think its kind of the same that in fashion communities, if you're skinny, any clothes look good. if there lovely photographs, people take in the technical beauty and don't realize it's not from the actual contents of the photo?

technical beauty

Exactly. A plain white wall with a busted 80's chair in front of it is exactly what it is. Just because you took an artsy photo of it with your $1,000 camera doesn't make it any better.
