given the recent posts about blik and sign vinyl decals, and the request for window treatments, i figured i'd post a photo from my last apartment. this is what my roommate came up with as a curtain alternative for one of our living room windows:

Nice! We have this narrow window in our dining room that's driving us buggy because it's too narrow for a curtain, yet it lets everyone on the street see right into our house - this would be the perfect solution for that problem area.

for getting the vinyl off, you can use a hair dryer or heat gun that will release the glue

it depends on the kind of vinyl you use. some vinyls actually leave more glue residue behind when heated.

what a perfect idea for problem windows of odd sizes and shapes... if only I would have thought of this in a few of my previous apartments!

I like the idea alot; far less permanent than those tacky frosted windows found in urban bathrooms!

I bought some from Home Depot for my parents; they have a tall narrow double-paned window next to their front door looking into the house and up the stairway; my brother broke the outer pane so my father (anticipating a repeat performance) replaced it with (slightly discolored) plexi-glass. My parents used the window film to mask the discoloration and give the stairway more privacy.
