More ink: planning stages

May 21, 2011 07:54

So I'm not planning on getting another tattoo for another year or so, and where I would get it is still pretty up in the air. However, I kind of want this next one to be representative of my passion for the field of scientific research. I love this quote by Albert Einstein ( Read more... )

Yay ink! I am so ready for more, but can't afford it yet. Soon, I hope.

I'll ponder this art-science-mystery idea, I like it! If I come up with any ideas I'll let you know. XD

Haha yeah they are expensive but SOOOOo worth it! Do you have any idea what you're getting next?

Thanks! I like it, too, hehe XD

I have about five more planned out, they're just awaiting funds and an occasion (somehow I started getting them all on memorable days or holidays, and now i have to keep the tradition).

Okay, on a more serious note …

I think science could easily be a stylized atom or molecule (though I think the atom would probably be more artistic looking).

Not to sound too picky, but the atom symbol is way over-used, especially for tattoo art. Also, while I agree that the atom (to the lay person, anyways) is the basic fundamental unit of life, I'm not a chemist or physicist, so I wouldn't mind something more symbolic of biology instead of elemental science. I think it's easier to meld art with science anyways if its on the biological level (evolution at its most beautiful is in the form of the organism, I think). Maybe DNA or something more on the macromolecular level?

And I hate the eye you have here, though I don't hate the idea. I like the Triple Goddess suggestion, but I sort of want the three symbols to flow into one another and not necessarily have two or three things incorporated into one image (if that makes any sort of sense).

It's all good, lol. I think DNA can look really pretty if done the right way. I'll keep these thoughts in my mind and let you know if anything pops up.

Also, I already have a tree, so that's out haha.

I like the double helix for a lot of reasons: mostly because of what it symbolizes but also because I think it's easy to have it morph into another symbol, haha.

I need more time to go through the alchemic symbols and things, I'm not sure how I feel about them yet.

Thanks, though! Very helpful :D
