I cant remember if I've told many people about this, but I decided to be a mentor through a nyc based program called iMentor.org   The program is incorporated with underserved nyc high schools and it is based around once a week emails with our mentees and once a month scheduled hang outs and activities.

these two poems make me immediately want to go to where you two are from. when i read this entry this morning i started thinking about what i would say about virginia beach and whether or not it would sound as appealing as your homes. i thought about the sounds of the ocean and bay, the smell of the changing leaves in the fall, the feeling of swimming in the pool on a hot summers day, and i was like "yeah man, virginia beach is awesome." then i thought about new york and i couldn't come up with one appealing thing.

new york sounds like dump trucks and buses while you try to sleep.
new york tastes like shitty street meat.
new york looks grey.
new york smells like trash.
new york feels too hot or too cold all the time.
