hahaha.

hey, i watched Shadow of the Vampire last night.

It was okay, but it seemed really anticlimactic. Everything was very cause and effect...or rather, i hesitate to use the word "predictable" but nothing out of the ordinary happened. i mean, once you know the premise of the movie, there were no surprizes. Everything just sort of happened according to what you assumed would happen.

I couldn't stop staring at Dafoe.

I'm planning on breaking out my Halloweeny movies, any day now. Thank you for the reminder.

It's amazing how one can market anything with the right scenes and theme music.

Mood is everything. Films have toyed with music for years. The right piece at the right time provokes the right understanding to company the visual.

You can think of any horror film, but if the grizzly scenes are accompanied by sitcom-my chuckle-music, it makes for much less terror, if any at all.

One could do this with all the Kubrick films and make for a completely different picture. He included so many idle moments in his films that you could make every one of them look to be anything but.

You can do that with a lot of films. There's enough non-scary in Night of the Living Dead to make it into something completely without zombies.

Knowing what The Shining is really like and watching this short quicktime clip, laughing uncontrollably because of what it's really like, lol.
