What Comics Do You Like?

So I'm just curious what comics if any you read/collect/look at the pretty pictures. I've seen lots of discussion on Buffy and Supernatural Origins comics of course since most people I know online are associated with one or both of those fandoms ( Read more... )

I really agree with you. Come on Buffy is the coolest. I can't put those comic books down. Joss Whendon is just brilliant.

I also love the Civil War series. I just amazing how all the Superheroes will react to one all of it if they were the ones being judge. It makes me hate some of the caracters. Iron Man is an ass, I agree with you a 100% in that. How can he be so freaking... I can't even discribe my anger.

I am also reading The Supernatural:Origin comic book. It's interesting an I love seeing how it all came to be with the boys and papa winchester. lol.

I also been wanting to read Runaways. I don't know it has couth my attention. But I feel that I am way behind. Do you have any comics you recomend to geek of the supernatural world? lol..

Awesome comic book by Joss . I loved it But unfortunatly I am still missing the 6 issue. I need to get that issue. I love how the story line is I wish there was more lol.

Oh and I have been wanting to read the three issue of Serenity that Joss wrote. I am freaking crazy about that movie. I love it and the series Firefly also. I think that is one of the only movies I could watch over and over. I love it. I so want to get the new speciel Edition one but I already have the movie. lol.

OH and I added a post in my journal hoping that more people will join your meme.

We will continue strong ... lol "raises hand in the air" lol...

As far as something supernatural there are a few that look promising coming out. I'll let you know if they're any good when they come out.

Bonds -Not out yet but looks good.
Girls -series is done but it was a great ride. Think your typical zombie movie but with replicating identical women instead of zombies.
Walking Dead -zombies for the win!
The Sword -sounds like Kill Bill with magic. :)
Consumed -boy meets girl. girl turns out to have been marked for demonic possession by ex-boyfriend. boy must save girl from.

RUNAWAYS! Good art, bril writing.

Y THE LAST MAN! I'm even more behind than you, I think. The art is good, but the story is downright compelling. I fear that Hollywood will get a hold of this and screw with it, you know? The story's features can be so easily ruined by the roughshod trampling executives can be known for.

PREACHER! It's twisted and violent, and I love it for that. At some points the art doesn't meet what I would like, but oh freaking well, right? The crazy story more than makes up for it.

DAMPYR! Black and white, no color needed for this noir comic, SRSLY. And, is it me, or does the main character totally look like Ralph Finnes?

MUSASHI #9 I began picking this up right before I stopped working at the store, so I only got the first few books. I don't know if it got weird or anything. So many Manga go and get weird, and then it looses my interest.

TRIGUN! I love the story. The characters are so well rounded. The world is so well developed. It's love.

Preacher is a pretty awesome book. I hear that HBO has a series in the works.

I haven't read much manga since Dark Horse used to print it in normal comic style years ago. I really like Gunsmith Cats. I've seen the Trigun show but never read the manga. The show was pretty good so I can assume the manga is at least as good. :)

I've heard good things about Fables. I keep meaning to get the trades and start reading. Maybe after I finish with Y the Last Man.

And as far as super hero comics go I usually prefer DC although Civil War really got me interested in Cap and Iron Man and a few others. DC generally seemed to have better stories so I was partial to that. And who can't love Elseworlds? It's like DC Comics fanfiction. I really liked Superman Red Son. Instead of fighting for "... truth, justice, and the American Way," Superman is described in Soviet propaganda broadcasts "... as the Champion of the common worker who fights a never-ending battle for Stalin, socialism, and the international expansion of the Warsaw Pact."

I generally stopped reading most super hero comics sometime around college. It seems like every hero has two or three titles and I rarely wanted to start that many new things; or they've been around forever, and my sense of completeness rankles at starting with 230-something. It's only recently that I started reading 'spandex' titles again, with Runaways and the Young Avengers. And oddly they're both Marvel. Hrmm. I've never read Elseworlds, though the Superman you described sounds really cool.

Fables is really good, most people I know who've jumped in really like it. It's totally worth adding to your list. I'm waiting for Y the Last Man to finish before I start getting the trades. I know they're close and that way I can sprint to the end if I choose.
