I recently read a review for a book called Bad Seeds - it's about the gang violence that centered around Galloway and Kingston in the middle 2000s. I'd really like to read it, but I just haven't had the time, and probably wont until after xmas. Maybe you should grab that one?

Then when you're done that check out all the modern classics (I haven't read most of them). Kite runner, life of pi, persepolis, watchmen (mix in graphic novels to keep things fresh!)...
