It's been three years since I started this Untold Stories project, and it's been almost a year since I started to take it up again, but finally I have written the third chapter of this story. Between the first time I wrote this story though and now, I can tell that I have not improved in writing at all. :) It's so depressing really. But anyway, unto the chapter... three. :S
Chapter Three
The Endless Sea
As soon as Junnosuke put one step through the door, he fell into a pool of water. Was it really a pool of water? No. When he took a good look around, he realised there was nothing but endless, endless water. Did he somehow make it to the ocean?
He began to swim and swim and swim and swim, but no matter how far he swam, he could not find shore. It seems that no matter how far I swim, though Junnosuke again, there's no reaching land. Am I going to be stuck at sea for the rest of my life?
At that moment, a little mouse started paddling its way past Junnosuke. Happy to just see someone, Junnosuke began to call out to the mouse, "O, Mouse! Do you know the way out of this pool? I'm very tired of swimming." The mouse didn't say anything (he wasn't expecting it to, but he thought he'd give it a try, being that he's in this strange world where strange things already happen), but it did look at him a little. It even looked like that maybe the mouse may have given him a little wink.
How silly of me to think that a mouse would answer me. He probably only speaks mouse language, thought Junnosuke. "Maybe if I had a cat to talk to," he thought aloud, and which to this, the mouse began to react rather strangely, screaming out, "Cat! Cat!"
"There really isn't a cat, dear Mouse!" screamed out Taguchi to the mouse.
"Then why mention it!? I'm terribly afraid of cats!"
"Yes, I forgot that mice are afraid of cats."
"My family has always been afraid of cats. It's like it's programed into our brains."
After this, the mouse said nothing, and neither did Junnosuke, as they still paddled through the salty water. The silence started to become awkward, so forcing himself to begin a conversation with the mouse again, he began by saying, "I'm in a band, and one of my bandmates has a pet dog. Are you okay with dogs? His dog is so adorable though, and very well-behaved. Very good. He onced chased a mouse out of the house... oh."
At this, Junnosuke realised that the mouse began to tremble. Before Junnosuke could say anything else, the mouse began paddling and paddling, as hard as it could, trying to get as far away from Junnosuke as possible. Junnosuke, feeling bad, began to paddle juast as hard, following the mouse, not wanting to lose sight of him. As he was paddling, he realised that the pool of water that he had been swimming in for so long was suddenly filled with birds and animals of all kind, all swimming the same direction as he was. And soon, they all reached shore...
