Krakow

Meddyg and I went to Krakow last Monday-Wednesday. It was an impulse buy when Meddyg saw a cheap trip on offer at a local travel agent.  The last time I was in Krakow was 42 years ago as a child of 11.

Surprise surprise, arrived late on Monday evening due to the flight being delayed.  We got to the hotel courtesy of a mad Polish taxi driver - 70 KPH ( Read more... )

Been there, done all that, got lots of photies! Wonderful, isn't it?

I suppose you were a bit late for the lilacs, weren't you? The city is heady with the scent of lilacs and people wandering all over the place selling bunches of it.

No, I didn't see any lilacs. I guess that end of May is well too late, as in the words of one of my favourite poets:
"April is the cruellest month, breeding Lilacs out of the dead land,..."

Sounds fabulous, I think I might have to add Krakow to the "places I want to visit" list.

re: Pierogi - we buy ours at a little Polish deli in Sheffield, and very nice they are too! John fried up some onions and mushrooms to go with them, usually.
