Stitch and Whine

OK, I succumbed and got hold of this new knitting magazine that teaches you from scratch. Tonight, I made my first attempt, which has brought back to me the reason I never got far with knitting - casting on. Armed with the DVD, and the photos in the magazine, it has taken me over one hour to cast on 20 stitches. And I still need 9 more *whine*  I'm ( Read more... )

I totally sympathise about the 2 molars..... Ive just had a 2 hour dental appointment to get 2 of mine (one each side) prepped for crowns, gold crowns at that.....and its costing me £700.... It was that or lose them, and there was no way i wanted that. Cant they save them at all?

Oh hon, youre not having a lot of fun healthwise at the moment are you {{{{{hugs}}}}} How is the ankle today? I dunno, i think im gunna rename my LJ "The Walking Wounded" as i seem to have oads of health stuff going on too... Its a nightmare isnt it :o(

Oh wow.....CONGRATULATIONS to both you and The Man :o) I'm gunna go and check out your link now.....i really need to stop smoking :o(

Unfortunately not. My previous dentist had a no or minimum intervention policy which means both have been neglected so long they are unsaveable. One of them used to have a crown, and when it fell off he told me it wasn't worth bothering to replace it. I've now moved from NHS to private to try and stop anything else happening!

The ankle is improved enough for me to consider going back to the belly dance class on Tuesday (haven't been for 4 weeks with that and the flu), but not to restart running yet.

I hate it when health stuff happens, because I have so much I need and want to do!!!

Thank you!

I'm having to face the fact that when I am finally able to start running again I will be more or less back at the beginning :( However, being totally off the cigarettes should hopefully make it easier to get back to where I left off and improve further.

I'm impressed with the attempt at knitting. As a child of a constant knitter I gave up at about 6- all fingers and thumbs and the parent had no patience in trying to help me out. This was when knitting was part of primary school education! SO, I'm in awe of anyone who can knit, particularly the multi-taskers(liek my Mam) and those who make up their own aptterns(like my fiend Jill).

I'm sorry to hear about the health problems, do you need to have a visit to the doc (yours not the man)?

Well done with giving up the weed to both of you - you know it makes sense - and saves money!

When I lived in Zagreb, nearly all the women I knew would design their own knitting patterns and come up with the most fantastic stuff. Sickening, innit!

Doctors, hmm. One of the reasons all this has dragged on so long is because any cold or flu has a terrible effect on my breathing. The last flu episode was especially bad. However, despite the fact that I am on asthma medication, my GP has only ever given me the flu vaccine once. All other times I have been told that there were insufficient stocks for me to receive it, because I wasn't a major priority. So you could say that a lot of the problems of these last months were doctor-caused!!!

That fall must have been very frightening, but you have as you say been unwell for such a long period that perhaps you are 'post-viral' and rather exhausted? Could a little holiday of soe description be arranged?

CONGRATULATIONS on giving up smoking. It's the best thing ever. Just remember what my hypnotherapist said that the biggest killer connected with smoking is not cancer but complacency, i.e. don't either of you make the mistake of having even one puff!

*hugs* The days are starting to get lighter, and energy levels will increase. Hang in there, friend.

The fall was terrifying, on account of the pain and also because I was unable to get up. I'm really lucky I was in a bungalow and not alone in my own house, where potentially I could have ended up falling down my very steep staircase, or upstairs, where I could not have reached a phone. Thank you about the post-viral possibility. I didn't make the connection, because, being so down about everything, I put it down as another problem on top of the others ( ... )
