the thought made her giddy, but the reality, the fact that she was working this hard for a man, both frightened and annoyed her.

I think this sums up Mars marvelously. She wants the attention but she doesn't want to want it.

And I'm so glad they didn't have sex, since she'd been drinking & laughing & whatnot, but I'm also still glad they're meeting up tomorrow!
