Title: Immortality Author: juuchan Rating: PG (unless you mind disturbing references) Pairing: SasuNaru (twitch and you'll miss it) Summary: A discourse on the mechanics of power.
Hee, thankies.^^ The second scene actually came to me first, but it was one of those gossamer thread ideas that took much longer to spin into something understandable. And I've been a helpless Alexander/Heph fan ever since I read Renault's work, starting from Persian Boy. FFH was gorgeous in every way, and the climbing scene was simultaneously adorable and powerful. Makes me wish more people could write like that.
wow this is stunningly beautiful! =D i've been meaning to get ahold of FFH, but everytime i head to the library to check it out, someone else has it ; A ; i suppose i'll just have to wait a while longer *sigh~
Thankies! I suppose I wanted to emulate Orochimaru's atmosphere, but Naruto wins out over all. Actually, as you can probably tell, I bought most of Renault's books. Not only are they all gay (well, reasonably), they're all beautiful pieces of literature. If you've got a central library (or a university library), you should be able to find multiple copies of her work, as she fairly well received.
it would just be my luck that after you commented, i went to the library to try again and there it was, in all it's 'check me out' glory XD unfortunately, my library is small (well, the closest library to my house is small) so most of her other works don't appear on its shelves. one day, i'll head out to the new library they built in the county over and see what i can find.
Naruto’s shame only strengthens him, Naruto’s failure only inspires him, Naruto’s loss only drives him to regain those things lost. <--and you really just TOTALLY explained why I so adore Naruto's character.
Thankies! And yeah, the underdog theme is what people generally think of from watching Naruto, but there's always more to it. ;) And Fire From Heaven is a work by Mary Renault, chronicling the childhood of Alexander of Macedon (you know him better as Alexander the Great) from an infant to a battle-practiced teenager. He's also quite in love with his best friend/confidant, but that's a given.
