So when I asked for a mini-extension was it accepted? Because I'm not finished today, still. I have the ending to write...which is at least a few more thousand words.

Yes. Those who were granted an extension can send in their drafts later. :)

I failed. I have no draft to turn in. Let me go into the darkest corner of my dank basement and hang my head in shame and failure.

I have the 15000 words written but I have a few unfinished scenes. Shall I send you what I've written so far if I don't manage to write it all before I go to bed and then add those scenes later?

As it has to be "complete" when you submit it, the best course of action if you are in a crunch would be to write the ending and add the other scenes later.

I'll do that. Will write the ending tonight and then have to write the rest at a slightly later date. I feel so guilty for having to do that though.

ETA: Sent it to you as it is as ending has been written. Hope it's okay.

Hey guys. Unfortunately my writing dry spell has not cleared up any. I'm stuck on everything and was not able top produce anything like a real draft. Hopefully next year, but I'm gonna have to drop out of this one. :(

Hello, lovely mods! I apologize for the last minute question, but I totally misread the draft submission requirements-- for some reason, I thought we only needed 10k of our 15k finished? I must have been remembering the rules of another bang-- and am short by about 2k words. However, I see in your comments section that there is talk of mini-extensions? I'd like to know if I qualify, at this extremely late date, for such things. I'd be extremely interested in one, if so! Thank you!

Yes, there are mini-extensions, but if we give them out to everyone regardless of reason, we may as well not set a due date at all. However, in light of your only being 2k words short, you may have until tomorrow. Please have it in as soon as possible.

P/S: Piece of advice - this is the kind of reason you should never give anyone for needing more time (whether it's your boss, your professor, etc - "I forgot the deadline [or the guidelines] you set" is a surefire way to get you no extension and an earful).

I'm very grateful for the extension, and thank you for your advice/earful!

And on that note, I apologize, but it almost sounds like you're saying lying is better than admitting I made a mistake and mis-remembered something... of course it reflects badly on me that I didn't think to recheck the submission guidelines until tonight, but I don't think it would have been better for me to cover it up with, "oh, my grandmother died," or "I've been horribly ill." Just a comment! Thanks again!

No, actually, we're not saying you should lie. We do appreciate you informing us about it, and we hope the extension helps.

However, what we are saying is that there are times when "I'm really sorry I couldn't get it done on time. I have no excuse, and I accept full responsibility, but I'd really appreciate it if I could get an extension because I just have a little more to go, and I can get it to you in a few hours" would really work a lot better than actually furnishing the reason, especially when you know it's a bad one.

I hope this clarifies any potential misunderstandings. :)
