Shopping excursion

Yesterday Kevin and I went to BestBuy so that he could take advantage of a 10% off coupon. While we were there he made a bee-line for the flat-screen TVs, and I ran toward the video game section of the store. There, I came across a married couple discussing prices of XBox 360 controllers. The husband and wife were discussing the pluses and minuses ( Read more... )

As a Best Buy employee, I'll tell you the reason why people spend more money there than buying it online. People don't want to have to do the work to look for these things elsewhere. She probably didn't even think of going to Wal-mart either. Also, often people just want to be told what to get. It's ridiculous how if we just recommend something, they'll go with it, even if the person telling them to get it is a complete idiot. The other day, I was talking to a woman about routers and recommended a Linksys router to her, because they're awesome, then one of my co-workers who knows almost nothing about routers and had some trouble setting up a Linksys once, recommends a Belkin and she buys that instead. Even though Belkin is pretty crap. So yeah, that's why.

I should also say, I don't really like the place, so if you wanna say anything bad, feel free.

so, my dad got a Wii for gift giving day this year. He doesn't really play video games either (besides maybe a card game on the computer), but the Wii is different. It doesn't *seem* like a video game to older people, *and* it is great for groups. Even 2 player, where a lot of video games and consoles are really 1 player type games.

A lesson I have to remind myself of often is you can't know what's good for others. If they use it, if they like it, or even if it brings them joy to know that it's there in case they or someone else did want to use it, it's worth it. Do you even know if he's used it yet?

I don't know if the Wii is good for Steve L. I'll bet it is. I wouldn't doubt it. The four of us did use the Wii this past weekend. We had a blast, but I was trying to comment on the staying power that system has for Steve. It just doesn't seem, to me, that system is a good value for him. I think he should have bought a more advanced system since he likes sports titles. Eh...I'm not telepathic.

Maybe. I still say, have faith in his ability to judge if he likes it.

also I don't think of wii sports games like any other video sports game. . at all.

it's a whole different animal to most video game consoles.
