Inheritance is always a interesting thing. I was amazed when we went through my grandparent's things after their deaths. And of course, it's wonderful to see your own nostalgia. That's a wonderful postcard, I loved what you wrote and how you wrote it ('Hi you bums!', heh).
The idea of anti-semitism being buried deep, but there - well, people have written of it before. But yeah, it's kind of disturbing to see it in person. And really, the cultural divide between what we see on the surface and what the people felt - wider than the sea, as scripture says. I remember thinking something similar when reading of Armandros in Coronets and Steel - we can't imagine siding with Nazi Germany and joining the Luftwaffe, but who knows what he felt at the time was needed, and who was good and who was evil?
