I'm going to go hunting up books and researching. You've made me want to know more.`

Interesting! I've never watched Big Love because it's polygyny, which is a very specific situation, and I'm way more interested in polyamory. The only polyamory I've seen on US TV was in Caprica. It's a little easier (but not much) to find in literature, with The Inheritance Trilogy by NK Jemisin for example.

Yeah--some of us have polyamorous situations in our stories. I, too, haven't seen it on TV (well-handled, anyway)

Not TV, but the movie Bandits covers the formation of a poly relationship.

...And yeah, that's all I got...

I haven't seen that one, but in terms of movies, there's Savages which has very good, not-full-of-angst polyamory. It's violent, though.

Interesting. I get so fed up with ignorant assertions about polygamy and Mormons that I tend to avoid the subject in media, but those books you mentioned look interesting. I may have to check them out. Not the TV, though, because I just can't even.

I found these women really interesting. (In both!)

Does this sort of thing still happen in the US?

What sort of thing? If you mean plural marriage, yes, there are enclaves all over Utah. And I gather in some other remote areas as well.
