Athena's Daughters . . .

Jun 11, 2014 18:46

The all-women science fiction and fantasy anthology Athena's Daughters is out. All kinds of stories! My contribution is about old ladies who get powers, called "Commando Bats."

If you get it and read it, I would love to know what you think!

(Edited to add, women who have a suitable story for the second volume, guidelines are here.

women, my-books, anthologies

I read "Commando Bats" when I got the ebook and quite enjoyed it. I like that your artist doesn't give me the "I'm not weird enough to be an artist" vibe I get from so much fiction. :D

I haven't gotten around to reading any of the other stories in the collection yet.

You're very welcome! We hope you'll be a part of some of our future projects! We loved working with you!

(If you have anything that would work with the guidelines, please do feel welcome to submit something for Athena's Daughter's 2. Some of our AD1 authors have submitted for it. We're doing open submissions and we've got some great stories already!)

I bought the ebook! I love the theme, though I've just read the first story so far. A friend of mine has a story in it, too.

So lucky that your story was one of the samples on Amazon's website for the book, because it's going to be a while before I scrape together the shekels to buy it outright. The story is wonderful--oh, please, please, write more about these ladies. (And where can I sign up to be one of them? Haven't met any goddesses yet, or maybe they're just incognito. . .)

Thank you!

(And when I can find out where Hera hangs out, I will be first in line!)

My best guess is, she's hanging out at Archetype Cafe, with the other ladies.

The lyrics are here:

& there's a video of Talis Kimberley performing it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48t431m_boI

Congratulations on the story! I look forward to reading it, once my backer's copy gets here.

Then of course, there's Dr. Whom's brilliant cat parody to the same tune, "Pousse-Café". Lyrics & footnotes are here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/rec.music.filk/LoG5ITEectI
