Strange Birds

Yesterday, rachelmanija and I drove out to Arizona for a session of Camp Lipizzan, which we have become completely addicted to. We had a pleasant, uneventful drive along the 8, which traverses the nervous landscape over the San Andreas Fault. Red winged blackbirds? They have the most beautiful bird song when in chorus.

Huge clouds and crowds of birds like that are wonderful.

Ah. We get a migration of something like those most winters. Usually around New Years, although it can be a few weeks either side of that. Right in inner city L.A.

They hang around for a day or two, and then are gone on whatever route they're following. I think they just hang around long enough to clean off all the vestigial dates on the date palms in the streets around here.
