Ten Things Writers Shouldn't Do--Connolly edition

A month ago, when I was at Fourth Street, I posted a bit about writers and a list of things not to do. Harry Connolly said he was going to come back with his own list.

As promised, he answered here. I don't know that I agree with them all (processes are sure different) but most of them? Oh yeah.

I certainly see the point of not coming to writing cold. I'm currently playing with a draft of a possible GURPS project; I spend a lot of time working out ideas for what to include in it while I'm running errands, or bathing, or getting ready to go to sleep. Often time away from the keyboard is more productive for figuring those things out.

Yes--my joint problems make standing problematical, but moving around, most definitely.

That was a good list, though, like you, not all of them are practical for me. Instead of standing, for example, I would replace that with take a break and walk around...but not in the middle of a great writing streak.
