And it only took THIRTY EPISODES

Gotham has finally *clicked* with me. I dutifully plodded through season 1 because my housemate likes it and because Batman is my favourite superhero and because I loved Gary Oldman's version of Jim Gordon (and shipped him with Bruce Wayne SO hard) And I like Ben McKenzie from Southland, so a show about Jim Gordon pre-Batman days, I was SO ready ( Read more... )

Wow, that's dedication. I usually give a show like 3 eps lol. I've given The Flash 5 eps so far and also just decided that maybe superhero shows just aren't my thing. I mean, I'll keep trying but meh. I gave up on Agents of Shield after one ep, ditto for Arrow, didn't even try Gotham. It's like uh, there's so much good tv and so little time and all these superhero shows seem only to get good in the 2nd or 3rd season and I just can't get through 30 eps or so to get to the good part. Kudos to you for hanging in there!

i play on the internet during the shows my family are more into than I am, like The Flash. My kid LOVES that show. I like it, but find it a little...young? I guess? Same with Supergirl.

Arrow is not a good show IMO mostly because Oliver is a dick. I stick around for his crew, who are good value, but I have my computer in front of me.

Agents of Shield was just dull until about 1.17 when Avengers Civil War came out and everything went to hell in that universe and the best twist ever happened where the boring as shit white male lead character turned out to be a Hydra plant.. EVen then we all assumed that the flashbacks to his shitty childhood and being groomed by a Hydra agent meant he would be redeemed, but no, he kept on getting more epically evil. At a con there were a bunch of fans proclaiming they were on Team Wade, and the actor who plays him was like, 'dudes, wtf, the guy is a literal Nazi'

Yeah, between work and school and life crap I get to watch maybe 4-5 eps of tv per week so there's just no way I can sit through 16 crappy eps just to get to the good parts, especially when there's so much actually good tv to watch, you know? And I already keep sitting through shows like SPN which jumped the shark 6 seasons ago and is a chore to watch but I've committed 11 years of my life to it so gotta see it through, you know?

I understand! I worked and studied for six years and yeah, very strictly limited tv time - in semester breaks i would binge watch - even though I was still working full time I'd feel like I was on holiday!

I'm actually the opposite when i comes to sticking with shows that have turned bad for me. I will (un)happily call it quits and move on to the next billion shows waiting for me to, Occasionally I'll come back to a show after been repeatedly assured that whatever season has come good again, and then I just start from where it got good again (I've grown out of the fannish completist compulsion. Like GoT just last weekend.

And nowadays we're spoilt, more genre shows than it's humanly possilbe to watch (if i want to be able to pay bills). I sometimes give up after the pilot, and don't make it past a few eps on many more.

30 episodes! You've got more patience than me! Also when I'm watching dull stuff I get resentful because I have so many other things I could be (re)watching.

Oh, gods, I know that feeling. So many shows, so little time. With the ones that I'm not really invested in, but am not quite ready to give up on, I use the time to play on the internet. (shows that I am invested in I give my full attention to because I don't like to miss a thing)

If I'm internetting I can't split my attention - I have no choice but to watch!

I don't try to read articles or fic, just browse through FB and tumblr. As soon as I read anything I tune out of the show and miss stuff.
