Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries fic and show rec

If you haven't already watched Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, I highly, highly recommend this lovely show. I suggest reading this a lovely, detailed pimp post someone else prepared earlier because I am lazy no point reinventing the wheel, right *cough*

The characters are adorable and the chemistry between Jack and Phryne lights up the screen.

Dude, there area nearly 700 fics in AO3, it's been one of the top requested fandoms for Yuletide the last couple of years, and why not, because all the characters are wonderful and the two main romances are so full of UST, the chemistry with the actors is amazing.

Yay for another fan :)

Is AO3 the new fanfiction.net? I quit looking around external websites for fanfic after a scarring first experience. It was around 2003 so I guess times have changed lol but since then I've only read stuff my flist writes (if it's a show/ship I like).

I also love Dot so much and I love how she stood up for herself and kicked butt in season 3!

Dot is awesome! And adorable and so is Hugh and their relationship. And Mr Butler! And Bert and Cec! I love them all.

Here is a link to all the MFMM fics on Yuletide There's a sort function on the right, I have (maybe helpfully) sorted them by the most popular first (in terms of 'kudos' which is a button people can click if they like the fic but don't want to comment for whatever reason.) I use this function if there are a lot of fics in a fandon and I only have a limited time, or if I only want to read certain pairings or whatever.

I read you MFMM cut tag as Male/Female/Male/Male, and thought, that sounds interesting.

Alas s1 never really did much for me and I gave up on the show at the beginning of s2 iirc, the book series was much better re: Phryne's (and everyone else's) characterization. Wish there were more fics for the books rather than the TV show, I'll have to poke around ao3 again to see if some new ones have popped up since I last checked.

i can see your point and had I read the books first I might have been less warmed to first season. But can I just say that during second season Hugh and Dottie's relationship has much more focus and they are just beyond adorable, and Jack's longsuffering support and encouragement of them is lovely. There's also so much wonderful UST with Jack/Phryne and relationship development, and even more importantly, Jack has total respect for Phryne and her abilities, which is wonderful considering the time period. Basically the actors who play them really bring them to life, IMO.

As far as the books go, i enjoy the chaotic family of two kids and two pets atmosphere, and I adore the Phryne/Lin (and Camille) relationship and would love to read fic about the three of them.

Yay! In the UK the freeview broadcasts are shunted away on an obscure channel for US (!!) TV, which is a shame as they are obviously well made as well as being a great watch. I've only seen series one except for one ep I missed because of stupid EPG.

That all sounds very complicated, I really hope you get a chance to see them - does your local library stock dvds as well (ours do)?

My library does stock DVDs but Miss Fisher would be too obscure for them! I'll have to hope Five remember they have the series to broadcast on 5US when they can be bothered.
