Importantly, are Harold's glasses just for show?

I'm following astolat on tumblr now, and she reblogged a PoI AU where Harold's like 30, and John his 20 year old soldier bodyguard for a bit, and I'd usually not even click on that premise, cos people generally change so much in 20 years they're hardly the same characters, except, you know, astolat, and I'm a sad fangirl, so I read it, and liked it ( Read more... )

I was wondering about Harold's glasses, but in some scenes where the camera is looking straight at them there's considerable distortion from the lenses so they're not just clear glass. I've come to the conclusion that whatever may be the case with Harold, Michael Emerson's glasses are not just for show.

And that serial killer was pretty overconfident, so maybe he would have; he certainly didn't see Harold as any kind of immediate threat.

Hmm, I just google imaged him, and in a lot of photos he doesn't wear glasses, but he is wearing them in enough that it seems clear that he does usually.

I suspect that where he's not wearing glasses he's actually wearing contacts; a lot of actors do ... and a lot more probably should!

I know Michael Emerson wears glasses, pretty thick ones if I remember rightly. And Finch had them, and wore them around people he trusted before anything very dramatic went down.

But, yeah, if you put on someone else's glasses, especially if you don't need them, and they're a fairly strong prescription, then you're going to be the one having trouble focusing on things.

Ah, my theory is that Finch stopped trusting people before even left high school. Did he even trust Nathan totally, he didn't tell him about the back door. With Grace, he would have established his persona before he fell in love, and rather than make the final commitment of trusting her with who he really was, he left her.

I'm kind of sad thinking about how long he could have not trusted now. But I can absolutely see it. Clear glasses would seem to suggest a persona, prescription glasses I'd say he needs them.

I vaguely remember Reese borrowing his glasses to see something in an episode, did I imagine that? Was it fic?

I don't remember him doing that. And now i have a really strong desire to watch the entire damn show again, you know, in the interests of science. or whatever.
