Also, have you been reading inell's Two Men and a Motorbike series? I discovered it (through emmagrant01's rec list) yesterday and I've been reading it pretty much since then. LOOOOOVING it! (Kirk/McCoy)
She's an excellent writer, so I really wish I could share your enthusiasm :(
I never read past the first one because of the ludicrous scene where McCoy give Jim a blowjob to orgasm while Jim's driving the motorbike at high speed. Also I spent way too much time being confused about where the bike that he was so attached to came from.
Based on your rec though I've read several more parts and I have to say I don't recognise these characters as the same ones from the end of the movie (maybe they were that angry and immature *before* joining Starfleet and saving the world).
Also, I don't like the attitude that because Kirk has sex he's a "man-whore" or his negative references to not wanting to be like "some emotional woman" or "silly teenage girls". I get the impression this Kirk doesn't really like or respect women.
By part 5 I found myself just counting the swear words, which kind of makes me feel all prudish and judgemental, but REALLY?
