Dragonfly's mum is staying the weekend. Tonight we had "movie night" and Bunny got to choose the movie (but everyone had to agree) After Tinkerbell was vetoed (we only watched it last week)and High School Musical was vetoed by Nanny (who wasn't interested in that sort of film) Bunny's third choice was Mamma Mia which none of the grown ups had ( Read more... )

Hee hee! I have to admit I was disappointed in the movie, though it sure looked beautiful - but I have so totally got back into ABBA ever since... Wonderful songs!

It just didn't grab me, is all. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood, but I had been looking forward to it - and I love the songs, I love the cast, I thought it was filmed beautifully - yet it failed to move me. No doubt my own fault, alas!

No, I get that. That's why I usually like to know as little as possible about a film before I see it. In this case, I managed to know nothing at all, so it was all surprising and shiny.

I was next to someone on the plane coming home who had been involved in training the cast and apologised in case he got too vocal in his appreciation of it as he watched. However, my entertainment system wasn't working! (So they gave me $40 to spend in the in-flight store to make up.)

I love this movie too - totally unexpectedly cos before it I didn't get or like Abba. Now i do.

Also, I -adore- Meryl Streep. She's such a brilliant actress - every time she did/felt something I was right there with her in that moment.

My two favourite scenes are:

1. Where Donna's 2 best friends are patching her up and singing to her when she's upset.
2. When Donna helps Sophie to get ready.
