Stuff about me.

- After the PMS from hell last week, followed by a weekend of euphoric energy and mad productivity, my body has now completed the cycle with annoying inconvenient physical symptoms of which I have only this to say. Ow. A lot. And also, see how I'm stupidly not asleep? This mindset where I go to work no matter how shit I feel (I blame 7 years of ( Read more... )

the Aus press is dreadful - respected report after report exists outlining just how bad it is. And its going to get worse if media consolidation continues in the way it has.

The problem is that there is no-one or nothing to, if i may steal the phrase, keep the bastards honest. So they ride roughshod over their audiences (not the public -- their audience, bought and paid for) so often that we begin to think that its the only way it can be.

and so it goes until you get to the point where a smart, sophisticated woman hears that Australia has the most restrictive press of any democracy and goes "nah, that's not right."

I went to a lecture by (Left journalist) David Marr at UWA last year in which he strongly criticised Australia - both Liberal and Labor governments - in this regard and held up the US as an good example because of its constitutional protection for freedom of speech.

*hugs you because there is much love*

How is your schedule for dinner looking? Next week is a possibility if you're free Thursday... or the weekend maybe or the week after?

Aust Press - i am largely oblivious too, and yet just recently from what you've said, and other comments below, it's becoming obvious that it's a huge pink elephant in the room. Obvious when you know, and invisible when you don't.

NEXT THURSDAY OMG *CLINGS*

I got up from my warm nest of blankets and went and wrote it on the calendar!!!!

As a conspiracy theorist, I totally knew we were censored, I haven't taken the West Australian seriously for fifteen years. I just couldn't comprehend a scale of censorship bigger than the US's.

*sigh*

Also my boss came out his office twice to stare at me worriedly and tell me to go home.

Not that it's my business, but I would like to do this as well!

Aww, thanks. I took the next morning off, and just went in for 3 hours in the arvo. *sigh* If only I could do that every day.
