Googling it at Amazon, I'm pretty sure it's The Magical Universe: Everyday Ritual and Magic in Pre-Modern Europe. Yay for Amazon providing me the book title once again when I'm too lazy to get up and find the book.

So far, it's very matter of fact about what sort of things peasants did to ensure good harvests instead of going on and on about their naivete and stupidity for believing in magic, which I really like. Authors with superiority complexes are boring beyond belief.
